I had every intention of recording an audio for the answers to your questions asked over a month ago 🙈, but I kept putting it off and then yesterday I was too busy packing for my beach trip so you are getting written answers today. Maybe I will add in an audio eventually or maybe next I just won’t procrastinate 🤷🏻♀️
I hope this little series takes off and I am able to record an Ask Me Answer each season. So if you have a question you would like answered pertaining to health, wellness, yoga, books, mindfulness, nature, traveling or anything else please continue to ask in comments, DM me, or shoot me an email at leannasthemindreset@gmail.com. I will be keeping track of them for the next ask me anything :)
Q1: From
Best place you’ve travelled too and what made it so special?
Answer-1: This is so hard to pick just one, but I think I would have to say Rocky Mountain National and Estes Park, CO. It was one of my first vacation and first National Park’s (although I don’t remember it) and we have been back at least 5 times since then and I adore it each and every time. There’s hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, shopping, lots of food, and lots of animals. There’s a pretty good chance that you will wake up to an elk right outside your window. And not to mention the insanely beautiful views. Everyone in my family absolutely loves to vacation there too. Below are some of my favorite photos I’ve taken while visiting 💚
Q2: From
Have you felt burnt out after writing over 100+ posts on Substack? If so, how did you deal with it?
Answer-2: To date I have written 118 posts for The Mind Rest and another 12 for my second Substack Books & Nooks. I would be lying if it always came easy, but I genuinely love getting to write each week. So much so that I decided to add in another Substack within my almost 11 months here. I don’t necessarily know if I have felt burnt out, but I do have those weeks when the words just aren’t flowing so in that sense I do sometimes feel a little stuck. During those times, I look for inspiration and if you really look you can find it just about anywhere. From other writers, blogs, your past work, and simply thinking of things you love and writing about that. I looked to nature, the last time I was feeling stuck. I also keep an ongoing list of writing ideas. However, I am more of a mood writer than a planner so most of my writing is spur-of-the-moment. I haven’t done this yet, but if I ever feel like I need a little break from writing every week, I will allow myself to take that break without guilt.
Q3: From
What does ‘wellness’ mean to you, and does it mean different things in different times and places?
Answer-3: Wellness to me means being content with my overall wellbeing. Having a balance of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, which is why I love focusing on all aspects of mind, body, and soul. I try to do at least one thing for my mind, body, and soul each day.
Mind - reading, rest and relaxation, growth/positive mindset, learning a new skill, hobbies, journaling
Body - exercise, nutrition, yoga, sleep, listening to your body, walks
Soul - gratitude, time in nature, finding your passion, meditation, journaling, mindfulness
I think it changes throughout certain times because I might need to put a little focus in to one area vs another, but I think the overall meaning stays the same. For example, I am currently putting more focus into my physical health (body), but that doesn’t mean I’m still not giving attention to mind and body because I truly believe they all go hand in hand.
Q4: From
I’ve always been thinking about what it looks like to be overall healthy. So based on all you know of the body - physical health - is there something one could look at when it comes to their body to see their overall health?
Answer-4: I think it is difficult to look at just physical health to determine internal and overall health. I am not a doctor so I don’t want to give any medical advice, but I do think it is important to have regular health
checks and blood work. Something that I have been wanting to do is see a functional medicine doctor as they look at things like diet, exercise, stress levels, sleep quality and focus on finding the root of the problem and not just treating the symptoms. Since my health coach training, I have been focusing on a lot of these things on my own, have made some changes, and I have seen improvement, but I know they can give me even more insight to my health.
I would say that is you take a look at your own energy levels, stress levels, how you sleep, how you feel throughout the day, and they are not satisfactory, there could be an underlying cause, especially if you have symptoms that don’t seem to go away with a pill or another form or symptom treatment. You know your body better than anyone else so trust yourself. If you feel that something isn’t right, it never hurts to get a second or third opinion.
