I wasn’t originally gonna post today, but I had the urge to write and share something so here we are :)
Did anyone else love that the first day of fall fell on a Sunday?? It honestly felt the perfect day to reflect on the past season and prepare for the new. I’m gonna take you behind the scenes of my fall reset day.
I woke up to the most perfectly rainy fall morning. The last day of summer for me was 90 and sunny and the first day of fall was 70 and raining so Mother Nature knows what’s up 🍂
1: Create a fall aesthetic
I have way more blankets than I need and multiples for each season so the first thing I did was strip my bed of my pink DIY tie blanket with strawberries on it and washed up all my fall blankets so they were nice and fresh.
2: Switch over my closet
I put most of my summer dresses away (this broke my heart a little), but kept a few that I might still wear with a sweater or flannel with. I even got rid of a few items that I will either sell on Poshmark or donate to the thrift store. I already knew I would need to buy a few fall staple pieces since I decided to get rid of half my wardrobe over 3 moves, but I tried my hardest to put together a few cute outfits with what I still have. I’m gonna try to shop mostly secondhand, but I never have much luck finding clothes so if you have any tips let me know.
3: Journal
I spent about 30 minutes reflecting on the past season, acknowledging what gave me energy last season, what drained my energy and, where a majority of my energy went, and how it aligns (or doesn’t align) with what I want for this new season. Then I took a couple extra minutes to write down a list of ways I can “romanticize” my life this fall. I’ll share a few with you here.
Take a fall-themed bath with homemade pumpkin scented candles, homemade pumpkin body scrub and cream.
Find a signature fall scent.
Add mood lighting and fairy lights to my bedroom.
Journal more about everyday things
Admire the noticeable changes. happening around me and the changes happening within me as well.
4: Go for a walk
I especially wanted to take advantage of getting outside today since it actually feels like fall. Not many leaves have changed, but I plan to take a picture in the same spot every week or so to notice and appreciate the changing of colors. This is what it currently looks like.
5: Read a book from my fall TBR
I didn’t have much time for reading since I had so many other things I wanted to do accomplish today, but I was able to get in a few pages of my current read…The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
6: Meditate
I just finished up a quick body scan meditation to check in with my body and now I am writing this as I am relaxing in a bubble bath.
After this, I plan to put on a cozy tv show or movie and I snuggle up in my nice clean bed with all my fall blankets.
How did you spent your first day of fall?? Let me know in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️
And in case you missed it…

We woke up to a cool 51° in Minnesota this morning and my husband hopped on his motorcycle at 6:30am to get to church where he runs the lighting for our Sunday services. I joined him for the second service and we both got home around 1:30pm. I stopped at the local vegetable farms' roadside stand and bought two massive heads of cauliflower (one PURPLE) to cook for dinner alongside some other leftovers. We had a quick lunch and put our gear on and got on the motorcycle to enjoy mid-60's and loads of sunshine, stopping by a barn sale of lovely antiques, and taking the twisting, rise and fall roads of the St Croix River Valley wherever they'd lead us. After stopping for a beverage, we got home around 4:30. Dinner was over by 5:15, I changed in to cozy clothes and snuggled in to a heating pad, with my cat at my feet. It was a perfect first day of Fall here.
This is truly my dream crisp autumn day🍂
