The Sunday S.P.A.R.K.L.E.S. #14
Fall style board, August reads recap, self-care month, and MORE!!
I missed last week’s Sunday S.P.A.R.K.L.E.S. because I shared this September issue of Sunny Side Up on the first of the month instead. So to get back on the regular posting schedule you are getting back to back Sunday posts this week and next!
Let’s get into it :)
S - STYLE vision board for fall
P - PLAYING carnival games
A - ASK me anything (fall addition)
R - READING RECAP for August
K - KEEPING in mind
L - Newsletters I have been LOVING
E - What I am currently EXCITED for?
S - SELF-CARE month
Oversized and comfy while still stylish and cute. I also love incorporating lighter colors of sweaters and pants into my fall wardrobe.
Carnival games. I don’t ever really remember playing the games at the fairs or festival when I was young, but the annual fall festival in my town was this weekend and I saw this adorable little cherry cheesecake so I decided to try and win it. You needed 2 people for the game so I played against my dad knowing that I would get it either way, but I beat him so I won it fair and square. I didn’t think it was bad for the $12 it cost for both of us to play.
I did an ask me anything a few months back, but I decided to make it a seasonal thing so if you have any questions related to holistic health & wellness, mindfulness, yoga, nature, writing, books, the fall season, or anything else ask them either in the comments or use this link and ask them here!
I have too much to share this month so I am not able to post an in depth recap of the books I read in August, but I will still share my thoughts and if I recommend them.
I read 5 books in August and it was honestly hard to choose which was my favorite cause they were all so good!
28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand
I don’t think I can go about Labor Day weekend without this book coming to mind now. I really enjoyed this book and I like that it followed the characters lives outside of the time they spent together, but I also didn’t like thats were 3 or 4 years at a time that we didn’t hear about their weekend together. At the end of the day, I loved this book and would definitely recommend it. It was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I’ve been hooked! Which book of hers should I read next??
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
For some reason this book took me a long time to get through. I started it, took a break and read 28 Summers and then came back to it. I did really like it, but not as much as I thought I would. I heard such great reviews and had really high expectations, but like I said I did enjoy it and would recommend.
The Keeper of Stars by Buck Turner
This book gave me Nicholas Sparks vibes and I love his books so naturally I liked this book as well. I think I would have given it a higher rating if I hadn’t read so many great books this month. It had a cute love story and a happy ending so what more could you ask for. For that reason, I recommend it.
It’s Not Hysteria by Dr. Karen Tang
I related to this book so much, especially in the first few chapters and I think that anyone that has problems with their periods should 100 percent read it. I don’t wish any of these things upon anyone, but it was a little comforting to know that it’s not just me and it’s not all just in my head. I learned alot from this book and I definitely recommend it.
The Woman by Kristin Hannah
This book had a very different vibe from the rest of the summer romance books I read this month and if you have read any Kristin Hannah books you know what I am talking about. So many devastating life events back to back to back to back, but I did really love it and would recommend it to anyone. This is my second Kristin Hannah book and she has definitely become one of my favorite authors. I think my next by her will be The Nightingale. If you have read it, I would love to hear your thoughts.
As for my favorite book of August, I had a hard time choosing just one so I didn’t. My TWO favorite books were 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand and The Women by Kristin Hannah.
