What started as Sustainable Stories became The Mind Reset last December and now my newsletter of 16 months will soon become Life in Vivid Warm on January 1, 2025.
Maybe that sounds indecisive, but the truth is, I didn’t know exactly where I wanted to take this Substack when I first started. Through changes, additions, and new directions, it’s all led me to the perfect fit for me and my little newsletter :)
It feels like I wake up with new ideas almost every day, and I’m sure I’ll keep experimenting to see what works. But I have a feeling this new name is here to stay—and let me tell you why…
WHAT’S IN A NAME??
It all started with a walk I took with my sister and niece on a beautiful fall day…
The vibrant colors of the trees, the crisp air, and the glow of the season made everything feel so alive. It was almost like stepping into a painting. Naturally, we wanted to capture that beauty, but the photos didn’t match what we were seeing. The colors were dull and the magic of the glowing world around us was missing.
If you have an iPhone or take a lot of pictures on your phone, you may already know that vivid warm is one of the filters and it was the only thing that made the photos look similar to what we were seeing and experiencing in the moment. It wasn't about the filter itself, but about the way it helped us see what was already there, in all its richness and beauty.
That realization has stayed with me as a metaphor for how I want to live my life. I don't want to see the world through a screen or a lens that dulls the magic.
Life in Vivid Warm isn't about applying a filter to make life better or brighter, it’s about stepping away from the filters, both literal and metaphorical, that dull our experiences. It’s about living fully present, noticing the vibrant, golden details of life and feeling their warmth, not as a filter for life, but as a way of living authentically, deeply, and vividly.
